This scheme now covers three areas of our Co-op Support Centre
- Finance
- Digital Technology & Data (DT&D) and Wholesale IT
- Co-op Legal Services (CLS)
How it works
It’s simple:
- Complete the referral form.
- We’ll contact your referral and share a link for them to apply.
- If they’re hired and pass their probation, you’ll receive £500*.
* Payments are normally made in the month after probation is completed (please allow up to one month for processing).
Who can make a referral?
This scheme is open to all Co-op colleagues, except colleagues directly involved in recruitment or managing the teams hiring (see full terms below).
Which roles are included?
Finance: You can refer someone for any advertised role within the Finance function. Current vacancies are listed on our careers website.
Digital Technology & Data (DT&D) and Wholesale IT: You can refer someone for any advertised role within DT&D or Wholesale IT. Current vacancies are listed on our careers website.
Co-op Legal Services (CLS)
Referrals apply only to specific roles:
- Estate Planning Solicitor (NQ, Associate, Senior or Lead)
- Estate Planning Sales Consultant (Employed)
- Family Solicitor (NQ, Associate, Senior or Lead)
- Probate Case Manager
- Probate Solicitor (NQ, Associate, Senior or Lead)
- New Client Enquiries Paralegal
- Wills Case Supervision Manager
- Will Writer
- Sales Advisor - Family Law
- Call Centre Representative - Estate Planning

Important to know
- Referrals must be submitted via the official form
- The candidate must not have applied for the role before being referred
- Only referrals made through this process are eligible for the £500 reward
Terms and Conditions
- Both the referrer and the referred candidate must be employed by Co-op at the time the payment is made and not under notice (excluding maternity, redundancy, and ill health)
- The referred candidate must be someone the colleague personally knows
- No payment will be made if the candidate has already been introduced by another source (e.g., recruitment agency, direct application, another colleague)
- There’s no limit to the number of people a colleague can refer
- If more than one colleague refers the same candidate, only the first referral submitted will be eligible
- Referrers remain eligible if the candidate is hired into a different role within the same function
- Payment will not be made if the candidate gives notice during their first 3 months of employment
- Candidates must not be sourced through a third party
- Colleagues must not advertise roles on behalf of the business
- The scheme is discretionary, non-contractual, and may be changed or withdrawn at any time
- Referrals may be monitored or audited; breaches can lead to disciplinary action
- Payments will not be made to the hiring manager of the vacancy
- Colleagues responsible for recruitment (e.g., HR, Resourcing, hiring managers in the relevant functions) are not eligible
- If a candidate’s probation is extended or they’re subject to disciplinary proceedings, payment will be delayed until the outcome
- Names of referred candidates won’t be shared internally until an offer is made
- Referral forms must be completed within a week of a candidate applying if the referral is retrospective
- Ex-colleagues cannot be referred until 12 months after leaving the business
- Candidates cannot be referred for a role they’ve applied for in the past six months
