CBS Operations Manager – Regulatory Services
£50,000 to £59,000 plus great benefits (Work Level 5)

We’re looking for an Operations Manager to lead our Regulatory Services team within our wider Co-op Business Services (CBS) organisation. CBS is made up of a number of diverse teams dedicated to delivering high-quality, reliable and cost-effective business services across our Co-op. You’ll play a key role in helping CBS to support and realise our group vision of ‘co-operating to build more value for member-owners every day’.

About the role

In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing the delivery of key compliance services across the business, including Licensing and GDPR. This role combines people leadership with service oversight, ensuring we deliver consistent, high-quality support to internal partners across Co-op.

Our Regulatory Services team is essential to keeping our business safe, compliant, and well-governed. This role ensures we meet legal and operational standards while supporting colleagues across the business with expert advice and practical solutions. You’ll lead and mentor a team of around 20 people, working across clusters to deliver pan-Co-op services, improve processes, and respond to changing regulatory needs.

What you’ll do

•    Lead and coach the teams delivering regulatory services such as Licensing and GDPR across the business
•    Manage day-to-day service delivery, balancing transactional work with engaging internal partners across our Co-op
•    Build strong relationships with internal partners to understand needs and deliver against SLAs
•    Act as a key contact for external bodies such as regulatory authorities and third-party suppliers
•    Monitor service performance and use data to identify risks and opportunities for improvement
•    Support continuous improvement by streamlining processes and removing inefficiencies
•    Stay informed about upcoming regulatory changes and help the team prepare effectively
•    Represent the team in governance forums and contribute to the wider CBS strategy

What you’ll bring

•    Experience managing and coaching teams within a shared services or business services environment
•    A good understanding of Licensing, GDPR Subject Access Request processes and regulations
•    Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with internal and external partners across the business
•    Ability to lead teams through change and deliver time-critical outcomes
•    A practical understanding of operational environments and how services are delivered
•    Confidence working with data to assess performance and drive improvements
•    Resilience and adaptability in a complex and fast-paced environment
