Co-op Apprenticeships

We offer apprenticeships across areas like legal services, food retail, software engineering, and logistics – and plenty more in between! Whichever path you choose, you’ll learn new skills and gain qualifications. Food retail

Our Customer team leader (Level 3) apprenticeship gives you the knowledge and experience needed to become a future leader in our food retail stores. Over 18 months, you’ll develop your key skills in sales, product marketing, leadership, communication, and more.

You’ll lead your store team, engage with your local community, and provide a great experience for our customers and member-owners. This is a fantastic opportunity to kick-start a rewarding career in Food Retail, and you’ll be supported every step of the way by a friendly team of store colleagues and a dedicated personal mentor.

Funeralcare

At Co-op, we’re here for people when they need us most. As an apprentice in Co-op Funeralcare, you can choose between two career paths: Funeral Team Member (Level 2) or Funeral Director (Level 3). Both programmes involve offering care and support to people experiencing grief. Whichever you choose, you’ll need to be compassionate and dedicated to helping others. Your empathy and support will not only aid people in their time of need, but also help you to build a deeply fulfilling career.

Legal services

Our legal services teams are committed to making a real difference – it’s about more than just cases and contracts. Our solicitor (Level 7) apprenticeship programme gives you the chance to play a big part in this and become a fully qualified solicitor, without the cost of university tuition fees. Over the course of 6 years, you’ll join one of our teams, from family law to personal injury and medical negligence, and benefit from dedicated mentoring and support from your experienced colleagues. It’s the perfect opportunity to build a successful career in law.

Support centre

The teams in our support centre play a big role in building more value for our member-owners, front-line colleagues, and local communities. From property, finance, and engineering to project management, HR, supply chain, and marketing, our support centre apprenticeship programmes are a great way to build your career at Co-op. No matter which team you choose to join, we’ll give you all the support you need to learn, grow, and thrive. That’s our promise to you.

Food technology

Love food? Turn your passion into a career with our Food Technologist (Level 6) apprenticeship. This is your chance to learn from industry experts while gaining hands-on experience in food innovation, safety, and quality. Over 3 years, you’ll spend one day each week studying for a BSc (Hons) degree in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University. The rest of your time will be spent working with our suppliers, supporting new product launches, and developing the skills to set you up for a rewarding career in Food Technology at Co-op.
