£52,000 to £57,000 plus great benefits (Work level 5) 

Manchester, hybrid working, splitting your time between home and coming into the office 

9-month secondment 

We’re looking for a passionate and strategic Skills & Capability Manager to join our Culture and Colleague Experience Centre of Excellence. This a brilliant opportunity to help shape how we grow and develop skills across Co-op.

Why this role matters

We’re on a journey to become a skills based Co-op where our people practices are built around what colleagues can do, not just what’s in their job title. This role is key to making that happen. You’ll lead the design of skills-based approaches across the colleague journey, helping us to make sure that our frameworks that are future-fit, inclusive, and aligned to our strategic priorities.

What you’ll do

  • Design how skills-based methodologies can be applied across everything from workforce planning and recruitment to development and mobility
  • Work closely with stakeholders to co-create scalable approaches that support our long-term goals
  • Help evolve our skills frameworks so they stay relevant and adaptable
  • Use data, insight, and external benchmarking to shape future capability programmes
  • Spot opportunities to improve how we work, using feedback and emerging trends
  • Act as a thought partner to senior leaders and People teams, influencing conversations and contributing to our wider skills strategy
