Role Summary
This role will engage with the business and finance teams to ensure the provision of value-add analysis which drives actions and decisions across the business, providing challenge and recommendations to support the management of financial performance, and ensuring all strategies, initiatives and risks and opportunities are accurately reflected into future plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Deep understanding of the function/business area supported, enough to articulate the story or forward plan on their behalf, providing insight for decision making with value-adding analysis that highlights areas of both business weakness and opportunity
- Responsible for reconciling, understanding and acting to ensure that Balance Sheet impacts, risks and opportunities, are understood and correctly reflected in actuals where appropriate.
- Responsible for liaising, collaborating and communicating with an area of the finance teams to ensure P&L impacts and risks and opportunities are understood and correctly reflected in the budget and forecast where appropriate.
- Through focused analysis, establish the underlying drivers of business performance and makes recommendations, which have full engagement with business owners and finance business partners.
- Identify key trends and issues, in order to support senior management and Exec to make informed decisions that improve business performance.
- Provide appropriate challenge and influence to stakeholders to ensure they make well informed decisions that improve business performance.
- Engage with teams to support improved understanding of finance, and agreed standardisation and simplification of financial planning and insight
- Develop and maintain your own relationships at all levels of seniority
Knowledge, Skills, Experience
- Qualified Accountant
- Experience operating alongside senior leadership teams
- Excellent influencing skills and good emotional intelligence
- Demonstrable experience of supporting or making commercial judgements and improving performance
- Ideally previous finance experience would include Financial Planning and Analysis, or Financial Reporting.
- Excellent cross-functional communication and collaboration skills.
- Good knowledge of Finance systems and processes, including general ledger and BI tools.
- Ability to work in a complex and fast-paced business environment with multiple priorities and culture of continuous change.
- Examples of where they have owned key projects and delivering them through others.
