Manchester city centre - We’re now working in a hybrid way, with colleagues dividing their time between working from home and 2 days in the office. Some travel will also be required for this role.

We’re looking for a Format and Portfolio Manager to join our Supply Chain leadership team.

Our newly created format and portfolio team are responsible for delivering around 500 capital investment projects each year that keeps our stores performing at their best, from refits and relocations to opening new stores. They also provide trading support for a diverse estate, helping stores respond to local challenges and optimising performance. We’ll look to you to set the vision and strategic direction for the team, making sure we have the right capabilities and processes in place to set the team up for success and drive the growth of our Co-op.

What you’ll do

•    Own and deliver the Supply Chain Format and Portfolio strategy, collaborating cross-functionally and setting the team up for success now and in the future
•    Optimise store formats and SAP capabilities to unlock profitable sales across a diverse estate 
•    Oversee the delivery of 500 property projects each year, ensuring range transitions and Supply Chain KPIs are met to drive store performance
•    Lead cross-functional relationships to improve On-Shelf availability and waste reduction to support profitable sales growth across the estate 
•    Own retail and category supply manager relationships, ensuring data-driven decisions and accurate demand forecasting 
•    Empower and develop a large team, building capability and fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture 
•    Manage resources strategically, balancing capacity and scheduling to deliver all processes on time 
•    Champion continuous improvement, embedding transformation and sustainable change across the function

This role would suit people who have

•    Experience in either retail operations or FMCG with a solid understanding of the retail landscape, challenges and requirements
•    Previous experience of leading or coaching a team with the ability to view the ‘bigger picture’ and set clear direction 
•    Strong relationship and collaboration skills with partners cross-functionally to build confidence in the teams’ capabilities 
•    Strong organisation and project management skills with the flexibility to adapt plans and approaches in response to evolving business and market needs
•    Good commercial acumen with the ability to put our member-owners at the heart of everything we do whilst balancing operational efficiency and commercial viability.
