Operating Model Specialist
£35,000 to £41,800 plus great benefits (Work Level 6A)
In this role you’ll work in a hybrid way splitting your time between home and occasional visits to our Manchester office (find out more about our hybrid working policy at jobs.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy)

We’re looking for an Operating Model Specialist to join us and help make sure we’re giving our store colleagues all the tools they need to support our Co-op vision. As part of our Change & Delivery Assurance team, you’ll work with colleagues across the business to deliver new initiatives and process improvements.

Why this role matters

In this role, you’ll maintain our dynamic store labour model and resource allocation for all stores across the country. No two days will be the same, as you’ll be working on different projects with a wide range of colleagues and teams – one day analysing numbers and building models, the next forging relationships and meeting with business partners.

If you’ve got the operation, analytical, and relationship building skills we need, we can offer you a unique opportunity to develop your career, whilst playing a key part in helping us deliver the best and most efficient service to our members and customers.

What you’ll do

• Work collaboratively with colleagues across retail to support the delivery of projects and process improvements
• Advise colleagues on the scale and impact of change based on desktop modelling using labour standards
• Develop impact models for change programmes, where multiple changes to working practices are planned so that the true cost of labour is understood
• Contribute ideas and initiatives in support of continuous improvement
• Produce a consolidated impact assessment of the process on store operations
• Model the labour required to perform processes by using industry standard measurement techniques (MOST)
• Test and build new labour standards for processes into Co-op’s workforce management system

What you’ll bring

We’re committed to making our roles as accessible as possible, so we only ask for the minimum criteria. To thrive here, you’ll need to bring:

• A great operation understanding of our stores and their processes
• The ability to manage, interpret, and communicate data sets
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to challenge and guide partners from all levels of the business
• A talent for building positive relationships with colleagues and leaders
• Good IT and Microsoft Office skills, with an ability to easily adapt and learn new systems and tools

Why Co-op?

At Co-op, we’re owned by our members. And because we’re owned by you, we can do right by you. So when you join us, you’re not just taking a job, you’re joining a movement. We’re an organisation that puts people and communities first, and we’re powered by purpose. We want this to be a place where you can thrive, so you’ll also receive:

•    An annual bonus (based on personal and business performance)
•    28 days holiday (rising to 32 with service) plus bank holidays
•    A pension with up to 10% employer contributions
•    Access to a subsidised onsite gym (at our Manchester HQ)
•    30% discount on Co-op products and 10% off other brands
•    Stream – early access to a percentage of your pay as you earn it
•    Virtual healthcare including GP appointments, mental health support, nutrition and fitness advice
•    24/7 colleague support service
•    Training and support for your development and career progression
•    Cycle-to-work scheme

A place you’ll belong

We’re building diverse and inclusive teams that reflect the communities we serve. We welcome applications from everyone and are committed to creating a workplace where colleagues can feel like they belong, supported by our inclusive policies and the ways we work.

We’re proud to be part of the Disability Confident scheme and offer interviews to disabled candidates who meet the minimum criteria for a job. If you need any adjustments during the recruitment process, we’ll support you.
