You'll develop expertise across underpinning technologies while building an understanding of the end-to-end logistics landscape, resolving technical issues, delivering system improvements and helping to ensure our services remain stable, secure and fit for purpose.
Why this role matters
Technology is at the heart of how we serve our colleagues, members and customers. As a Senior Application Engineer, you'll work within a collaborative engineering community while supporting the systems, integrations, connectivity and devices that enable our warehouse and transport operations to run effectively. From service improvements and depot asset refreshes through to large-scale transformation projects, you'll play a key role in delivering technology that drives operational excellence across our logistics network, while continuing to develop your expertise across a range of platforms and services.
What you’ll do
• Provide technical support across a range of logistics applications, integration services and operational technologies, ensuring services remain reliable, secure and available
• Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve incidents, identifying and addressing root causes and owning the implementation of long-term solutions to improve service stability
• Deliver application changes, enhancements and upgrades that improve product outcomes whilst managing technical and operational risk
• Support the delivery of large-scale logistics technology projects, from system implementations and technology refreshes through to new operational capabilities
• Monitor service performance and system health, identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency, resilience and user experience
• Work closely with engineering, product and operational teams to develop technical solutions that support logistics business outcomes
• Produce and maintain clear technical documentation, support processes, operational runbooks and engineering standards that enable effective support and knowledge sharing
• Actively contribute to new ways of working by using product and operational insight to drive evidence-based decisions and continuous improvement
• Develop your expertise across key technologies including Azure Integration Services, operational connectivity and edge device platforms, while building a broad understanding of the logistics technology landscape.
What you’ll bring
We’re committed to making our roles as accessible as possible, so we only ask for the minimum criteria. To thrive here, you’ll need to bring:
• Hands-on experience supporting and maintaining enterprise applications, technology services or operational systems within a logistics, supply chain or similarly complex environment
• Experience investigating and resolving technical issues, using monitoring tools, logs and data to identify root causes and improve service performance
• Experience planning and delivering system changes, upgrades or enhancements in a controlled and effective way
• A good understanding of logistics operations and the technologies that support areas such as warehouse management, transport management, integrations or operational devices
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly and manage stakeholder expectations
• A proactive approach to continuous improvement, with experience identifying and implementing service enhancements
• The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues across different teams
• A commitment to supporting others, sharing knowledge and contributing to a positive and inclusive team culture
