Purpose

This communications practitioner role has responsibility for strategic activities within a programme or business unit supporting the key strategic communication aims of the area, whilst linking to the broader Co-op vision and strategy. The role will focus on ensuring strategic priorities are supported effectively, increasing colleague advocacy, trust, engagement and understanding, enabling colleagues to understand the part they play in helping us achieve our Vision.

Contribution

  • Responsibility for strategic communications with a business unit or programme 

  • Leads communications planning, creation and delivery for defined area

  • Proactive in seeking communications opportunities and utilising channels that get the right message, to the right audience at the right time 

  • Supports delivery of colleague/leader events in defined area of responsibility

  • Responsible for continuous improvement of communications within areas of responsibility

  • Manages communications priorities of areas of responsibility, ensuring colleagues are always at the heart of decision making

  • Subject matter expert, with awareness of overall strategic priorities

  • Evaluates communications within areas of responsibility

  • Always on approach to improvements and enhancing colleague interaction with our communications channels

  • Supports on any issues as needed

Capabilities

5+ years experience in colleague communications

  • Ability to engage colleagues on key strategic activity

  • Ability to creatively plan and deliver engaging content on key areas of strategic priority

  • Ability to self-manage a broad range of priorities in areas of focus

  • Excellent communications skills, including the ability to provide strategic counsel to stakeholders requiring support

  • Significant experience in understanding business requirements and providing specialist advice and service 

  • Ability to recognise opportunities for continuous improvement
