We're looking for a Resilience and Response Lead to join our Retail Resilience and Response team and help us keep our colleagues, customers and communities safe. In this role, you'll respond to incidents affecting our retail operations, supporting stores and operational teams through disruptive events, including crime, health and safety incidents, physical assaults and wider business disruption. Working closely with colleagues across Co-op, you'll help coordinate effective responses, investigate incidents, identify trends and make sure we're continuously improving how we support our retail estate.

Why this role matters

Keeping our stores safe, open and serving their communities is vital to Co-op. As a Resilience and Response Lead, you'll play a key role in helping us respond to incidents that impact our colleagues, members and customers, while supporting our ambition of creating safer colleagues and safer communities. From investigating serious incidents and identifying emerging risks, to providing insights that influence business decisions, your work will have a direct impact across our retail operation. It's an opportunity to work on a wide variety of challenges, collaborate with teams across the business and help shape how we respond to incidents both now and in the future.

What you’ll do

•    Support our frontline store colleagues and operations teams, following disruptive incidents
•    Coordinate and complete the triage and investigation of RIDDOR-reportable incidents across our retail estate
•    Support the investigation of physical assault incidents, ensuring accurate reporting, effective follow-up and appropriate escalation
•    Conduct post-incident analysis, making sure resolutions have been effective and lessons have been learnt
•    Analyse incident data, identify trends and produce reports that help inform business decisions and risk mitigation activity
•    Build effective relationships with external partners, agencies and third-party suppliers
•    Support cross-functional groups focused on crime prevention, colleague safety and operational resilience
•    Support the coordination and continuous improvement of Business Continuity practices across the Retail business
•    Help with the coordination and administration of the Retail Incident Management Team (RIMT) during significant incidents and business disruption

What you’ll bring

We’re committed to making our roles as accessible as possible, so we only ask for the minimum criteria. To thrive here, you’ll need to bring:

•    Experience working in a retail operational, resilience, incident management, health and safety, risk or similar environment
•    Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess situations, make decisions and identify effective solutions
•    The ability to build relationships and work collaboratively across teams, influencing stakeholders at different levels
•    Confidence analysing information and incident data to identify trends, generate insights and support decision-making
•    Excellent communication skills, with the ability to remain calm, clear and professional during both day-to-day operations and high-pressure situations
•    Self-motivation and the ability to work independently, managing priorities in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment
•    Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams
•    A NEBOSH general certificate qualification, or a willingness to work towards one

Why Co-op?

•    An annual bonus (based on personal and business performance)
•    28 days holiday (rising to 32 with service) plus bank holidays
•    A pension with up to 10% employer contributions
•    Access to a subsidised onsite gym (at our Manchester HQ)
