Please note all positions within Funeralcare can involve direct physical contact with the deceased as part of normal duties – the amount of contact will differ dependant on role applied for.
Typical duties include but are not limited to preparation, transportation, and personal care of the deceased to be carried out with professionalism, dignity, respect and adherence to health and safety standards.

We’re looking for a Funeral Service Crew to join our Coroner Service team in Bristol.
In this role, you'll be responsible for carrying out the transfer of the deceased on behalf of the Coroner. You'll also support the day-to-day Funeralcare operation wherever possible, making sure that both Co-op’s and the Coroners' ways of working are adhered to and delivered to the highest standard.

What you’ll do
- remove and transfer the deceased safely and respectfully to the designated mortuary or post-mortem facility, on behalf of the Coroner
- support the Coroners investigation process by ensuring deceased persons are transferred promptly for examination or identification as required
- provide a professional and compassionate service when dealing with bereaved families
- work closely with the Coroners Officers, police, healthcare professionals, funeral directors and mortuary staff
- maintain accurate records and documentation relating to transfers, collections and admissions
- maintain the cleanliness of equipment and facilities, including vehicles
- prepare coffins and engrave name plates
- assist in the care and preparation of the deceased to the highest standard
- ensure compliance with legal, health and safety and infection control procedures
What you’ll bring
- a full UK manual driving licence
- a sensitive approach to customer service with good attention to detail
- the ability to react calmly and compassionately in emotional circumstances
- the ability to perform the physical aspects of the role (manual lifting)

As part of your application you’ll need to complete an online assessment. It will take you around 20 minutes to complete this test.
