Role Summary:
To support the delivery of a portfolio of capex projects within a specific programme as assigned by the Construction Leadership Team to the appropriate standards and specifications, on time, to great quality, within budget and always to the highest standards of health and safety.
Key Responsibilities: 
  • Support with the development and management of the delivery of programmes for the assigned portfolio, including control of budget and risk management, with a focus on minimising end-to-end delivery time and realising defined business benefits.
  • Lead on the end-to-end management and delivery of smaller/less complex projects.  Support with the end-to-end delivery of more complex projects.
  • Take assigned projects through each stage of the appropriate governance process (depending on value), including provision of assistance to develop the business case, writing and presenting governance papers.
  • Responsible for overseeing quality control to ensure all aspects of the project meet Coop and statutory standards, and customer expectations.
  • Responsible for ensuring projects are delivered to the latest safety standards and agreed ways of working.
  • Responsible for anticipating and mitigating financial and programme risks
  • Responsible for confirming that all relevant documentation is complete and filed correctly for future reference/use.
  • Always work in line with the safety, compliance and continuous improvement expectation of the business.
  • Escalate, in a timely manner, any issues or inherent risks within their portfolio, proactively providing solutions or choices.
  • Work with a team of external suppliers and consultants to deliver all projects as described and to achieve maximum benefit for Coop.
  • Develop relationships with stakeholders across the business, including but not limited to end users, RHSE, PMO, Strategy, Estates, and Facilities Management.  Ensure appropriate engagement pre-scheme inception, through deliver, and post completion, ensuring best quality service is offered. 
  • Work with the colleagues across the business to minimise closure periods and site and closure impacts.
  • To work collaboratively with other stakeholders within and outside of property to resolve issues resulting from project activity, providing construction expertise to maintain project deliverables from inception to completion of a project.
  • Manage hand-back to operations following project completion, ensuing all asset information, documentation and warranties are updated and available.
  • Collaborate with procurement and the contracts team on the category plan, supplier tenders and performance management.
  • Stays up to date on industry trends, innovation and concepts, and brings forwards suggestions for service improvement and efficiency.
  • Active as cover for the Construction Managers where required and appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience:
  • Technical knowledge of construction principles and applications
  • Can work confidently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to engage with others and influence across work levels and functions.
  • Confidence in balancing and managing multiple internal stakeholders and ability to prioritise workload and conflicting demands.
  • Able to recommend process and system changes identified.
  • Demonstrated capability for problem solving, decision making, sound judgement and assertiveness.
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and draw key insight from data.
  • Good commercial acumen.
  • Able to communicate, engage and energise at different level across the business, excellent oral and written communication skills as well as excellent presentations skills.
  • Able to challenge stakeholders using technical knowledge, robust data and evidence.
  • Strong IT aptitude shown through use of Microsoft365 or similar.
  • Need to have UKATA Asbestos awareness; Legionella awareness; CDM training and any other specified by the RHSE Team.
