Role Summary

The Strategy, Portfolio & Engagement Coordinator provides coordination, governance and assurance support across strategy and portfolio activity across the commercial and supplier value streams. The role exists to ensure that agreed strategic and portfolio initiatives are visible, tracked, embedded and progressing as planned. 

This role focuses on disciplined coordination & execution rather than strategy creation. It enables senior leaders to maintain confidence in strategy delivery & team engagement by ensuring information is accurate, reporting is timely, and risks or issues are surfaced early. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate delivery, tracking and reporting of strategy and portfolio activity across commercial, buying & supplier teams teams. 
  • Support the ongoing embedding of strategic deliverables across the commercial, buying & supplier teams ensuring they are engaged
  • Maintain accurate strategy, portfolio & engagement information including milestones, ownership, risks, issues and dependencies. 
  • Support governance processes such as portfolio reviews, checkpoints and assurance activity. 
  • Compile relevant strategy packs, dashboards and summaries for senior stakeholders. 
  • Track delivery of benefits, costs, losses or performance measures where required. 
  • Support planning and sequencing of strategic activity through clear documentation and trackers. 
  • Provide administrative and analytical support to strategy and engagement managers. 
  • Support other areas of the business with portfolio coordination as required.

  • Works within clearly defined frameworks, priorities and governance structures. 
  • Able to manage day‑to‑day coordination tasks independently. 
  • Responsible for flagging risks, inconsistencies or data quality issues. 
  • No accountability for strategic decisions or delivery outcomes.

Key relationships and influence

  • Commercial Strategy & Engagement Manager. 
  • Supplier Strategy & Engagement Manager. 
  • Buying, commercial and supplier‑facing teams contributing portfolio information. 
  • Finance, performance or transformation teams where required.

Planning Horizon

  • Short‑term: weekly and monthly tracking, reporting and updates. 
  • Medium‑term: maintaining visibility across portfolio phases and initiatives. 
  • No long‑term strategic planning accountability.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience

  • Basic understanding of strategy delivery, project or portfolio management.
  • Awareness of commercial, buying or supplier environments.
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail.
  • Confidence working with data, trackers and reporting tools.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks to deadlines.
  • Experience in coordination, administration, analysis or delivery support roles.
  • Suitable for early‑career professionals or graduates.
