Role Summary:
Support the Head of Sustainability to develop and deliver the pan-Co-op sustainability strategy, reporting and governance activity., Working cross functionally with colleagues from across the business to create a One Co-op view of Sustainability activity, budgets and priorities to ensure Co-op remain on track to achieve our sustainability commitments and goals and demonstrate compliance to legal requirements. 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the pan Co-op sustainability strategy and delivery plan to ensure activity aligns to our overarching goals and we meet our mandatory and voluntary commitments. Identify funding challenges, opportunities and any risks that threaten our ability to achieve our goals.
  • Co-ordinate Sustainability ‘Hub & Spoke’ activity, ensuring accurate reporting on workstream progress to support delivery of our pan Coop sustainability goals.
  • Build and maintain cross functional relationships across Co-op with those who contribute to the delivery of our sustainability strategy to ensure a joined-up view of all activity and alignment on priorities and budgets.
  • Influence to Leadership Team level to ensure delivery of the plan 
  • Drive collaboration across the Hub & Spoke model to ensure alignment across the key sustainability goals 
  • Build relationships with external stakeholders to build knowledge and understanding of market insight and innovations to support the ongoing debate about sustainability legislation and government support.
  • Support the management and evolution of pan Co-op governance structures and reporting to ensure regular progress updates to Op Board and Board. Support the development of appropriate prioritisation approaches for sustainability activity across our Co-op.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience:
  • Demonstrates meticulous attention to detail and organisational skills across a variety of projects of various scale and scope
  • Expert programme and project management skills, to manage complex multi-stakeholder initiatives across Co-op’s sustainability ambitions. 
  • Project management experience, and great organisational skills
  • Ability to build meaningful relationships cross-functionally, and to challenge and influence key partners to get the right results
  • Confident to influence internal stakeholders to deliver clear outcomes and decision making 
  • Commercial awareness and proactive approach to solving problems
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple, clear way
