Role Summary: To be part of a team disposing of the properties identified through the property strategy for best market value. Work with internal Co-op Group to ensure that first port of call is that any disposals is kept within the family of the Group. Be an expert in business acquisitions so that can advise on specific due diligence matters. Manager the network of external agents and ensure we leverage our scale to best commercial value.
Key Responsibilities: 
  • Co-ordinate with National Disposals Manager to identify stores to be disposed of in line with portfolio reviews so that the disposal target can be met as set out in the three year strategic plan
  • Assist in delivering the plan for the disposal of stores, while implementing tracking measures to ensure that stores are sold in line with agreed timescales.
  • Assist the National Disposals manager in liaising with key stakeholders to create and implement a robust closure process for all store disposals
  • Create and maintain strong relationships by liaising regularly with stakeholders so that they all understand the end outcome ensuring all store disposals are delivered on time and to budget.
  • Work with Food Operations using profit and loss accounts/ trading reports to analyse store turnover so that stores can be recommended for either disposal or closure
  • Negotiation with external suppliers of services e.g. agents, solicitors, building surveyors, engineers etc to ensure quality and value for money are achieved with financial targets met for each disposal.
  • Co-ordinate with National Disposals Manager, planning and LPP to identify future loss making stores to maximize disposal value to ensure disposal targets for future years can be maintained.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience:
  • Experience in disposals management with a successful track record of maximizing disposal income and delivery at pace
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Experience of working cross functionally
  • Ability to nurture strong relationships and market lead
  • Wide network of external contacts for store disposals
  • A proven track record in building and sustaining relationships with internal customers at all levels
